Analysing the tick for rickettsiae

Rickettsia analysis involves two analyses – firstly, verification that it really is a tick (Ixodes ricinus) and whether the tick contains rickettsial bacteria. Both analyses are carried out at DNA level using the real-time PCR method.

The analysis takes a maximum of three working days after arrival of the tick.
